MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI TO THE nineteenth WORLD DAY OF SICK
"By his stripes you have been healed "(1 Peter 2:24)
Dear brothers and sisters,
February 11 of each year, lorsqu'est celebrated the memory of the Blessed Virgin of Lourdes, the Church has the World Day of the Sick. Accordance with the will of the venerable John Paul II, that fact becomes a propitious occasion to reflect on the mystery of suffering, and especially our communities to raise awareness and civil society towards our brothers and sisters who are sick. If every man is our brother, especially one who is weaker, those who suffer and those who need care have to be the focus of our attention, so none of them feel forgotten or marginalized, in effect, "the measure of humanity is essentially determined in relationship to suffering and the suffering. This applies to each and to society. A society that fails to accept its suffering members and is not capable of contributing, through compassion, to ensure that suffering is shared and bear it inwardly is a cruel and inhuman society " (Encyclical Letter Spe Salvi, 38).
----- Here the Word of God for today ...
(Psalm 31, 1-2, 5cdef, 6, 7)
Blessed is the man whose fault is removed,
and sin back!
Blessed is the man whom the Lord will not hold the offense,
whose spirit is no deceit!
I said, "I will praise the Lord
confessing my sins. "
And thou hast removed
insult my fault.
Thus each of you would pray
the decisive hours;
same waters overflowing
can not reach.
You are a refuge for me,
my refuge in distress;
songs of deliverance,
you got me surrounded.

The sign that Jesus is the deaf hear
(Mark 7, 31-37) - Jesus left the region of Tyre through Sidon, he took the direction of the lake Galilee and went into full territory of the Decapolis. He brings a deaf-mute, and he is asked to lay a hand on him. Jesus took him aside, away from the crowd, put his fingers in his ears, and, taking saliva, touched his tongue. Then, his eyes raised to heaven, he sighed and said: "Effata! ', That is to say "Open up! "His ears were opened , and immediately his tongue was loosed and he spoke plainly. Then Jesus warned them not to tell anyone, but the more he charged them, the more they proclaimed it. Very strongly affected, they said: "All he does is admirable: he makes the deaf hear and the mute speak. "

To our thinking ...
- Jesus could simply tell him: be healed ...
- No, he will take away ... It is very concrete actions ... It touches ...
- He said: Open up ...
- He did realize that it is ...
- And we, who we are? ...
- And I, who am I? ... Someone who needs the Lord Jesus as the key ...
- And I, who am I? ... Someone who needs the Lord Jesus as the key ...
